Palo Duro Canyon

I recently went down to Palo Duro Canyon to take a look at the beautiful scenery and also watch the different wildlife. I really enjoyed myself and hope you enjoy my pictures!

This is one of the first pictures I took when I got to the Canyon. I really liked how the colors of the different layers of the canyon walls stood out.


I found these two ducks being sleepy heads next to a water runoff. Must be nice to sleep all day! This was the first animal picture i took. An animal is a living organism that is characterized by voluntary movement which means they breath, they eat, they grow and they reproduce.




I walked down a small trail and saw these cacti along the way. Even though they look like they are dying cacti can live without getting much water thats why it survives in this kind of habitat. A habitat is a natural environment of an organism, or living thing.

I had to be very sneaky to get this picture of this red bird. This bird was very suspicious of my camera and I. Probably because birds have their own place on the food chain which isn't very high up. A food chain is a complex system of one organism eating another and so on down the line. For example, the bird ate the birdseed, and the hawk ate the bird.

I really liked this view of the Canyon wall. How many colors do you see in the wall?

This pictures shows many different plants growing all along the side of the canyon wall. Plants are living organism lacking the power of locomotion and also make their own food through photosynthesis.

I caught this little bird eating out of one of the bird feeder stations in the Canyon.While this bird is eating birdseed, birds are generally characterized as omnivores. Omnivores eat eat both plants and animals.

I passed this rock formation on my way to the bottom of the canyon. Could you imagine trying to climb up there?



I snapped this quick picture after bird watching for a while. I thought the canyon walls and the sky looked beautiful together!


On my way out of Palo Duro Canyon I spotted these two great Texas longhorns. This was a great ending to my trip to the Canyon! :-)
